Integrity, Quality & Satisfaction: Building Custom Homes For Over 50 Years By Jeff Felbab - Executive Vice President, Builders Showcase
Our featured builder this month is Zach Building Company.
This family run business is something very rare in this age of mergers and huge faceless
corporations. Zach's 50 years of experience in the building industry, dating back to the
1940s, makes them experts in the home building process.
Our cover home is their 1998 Parade of Homes model, the
Augusta. This spectacular 4,106 square foot home unites functional design with high
quality amenities and will excite even the most selective buyers. The feel of the arched
brick entrance on the Augusta is carried throughout the home with the dramatic foyer and
arched entrances in the large dining room, living room and lower hallway.
This beautiful home has a very open feel, but still allows
privacy with a separate living room, great room and study. A window wall highlights the
two story great room which also features a built-in entertainment center, a built-in wet
bar and a fabulous floor to ceiling two-way masonry fireplace. The dinette/hearth room
side of the fireplace uses a marble surround and built-in bookshelves are included in the
study. The well designed gourmet kitchen offers ample work space and the lovely sunroom
and the dining room, with a trayed ceiling, and are only steps away. The laundry/utility
room and mud room are also conveniently located.
On the second floor you will find three large bedrooms and
the master suite. A trayed ceiling, his and her closets, an exercise room, and a large
private bath with a vanity featuring a double sink, combine to create a true homeowner's
retreat. Overlooking the great room and foyer is a dramatic bridged walkway. Acoustical
drywall finishes reduce sound throughout the home and ceiling lighting adds a unique and
cost effective touch.
The Augusta demonstrates that integrity,
quality and satisfaction are the cornerstones behind the Zach
Building Company. As mentioned earlier they are a family run
business, owned by Richard, Pat, Matt, Lynn and Bill Zach The
company was originally founded in 1947 by John A. Zach. Richard,
Matt and Bill's dad, does site work, like house placement, surveys,
structural soundness, etc. Pat, Richards wife, and Lynn, a C.P.A.
and Matt's wife, handle customer service and financial dealings.
Matt expedites each home and is in daily contact with every
on going project. Matt, along with Bill, works up all bids.
Bill is in charge of sales, design, architecture and works hand
in hand with customers on their various selections. The beauty
of a family run company is that they are working together toward
common goals, instead of only working on the business from 9
to 5, they can be dedicated to solving a problem or talk about
a new idea over Sunday dinner, up north at their cabin or even
at a Thanksgiving get together. The family is always available
to each other making this a real plus for their customers. The
Zach Building Company presently designs and builds about
12-15 custom homes per year for clients in the Metropolitan
Milwaukee area (Milwaukee County, Washington County, Waukesha
County, Ozaukee County and Racine County). Each house is totally
customized for each individual client.
Look for a slightly smaller version of The Augusta in the
1999 Parade of Homes, which begins August 21st and runs through September 12th. The new
model will be located in The Fairways at the Broadlands, a new golf community located in
the Village of North Prairie. The Augusta Series offers floor plans ranging from 2,600 to
over 4,200 square feet, including ranch and first floor master bedroom plans. Zach
Building Company's commitment to their customers is demonstrated through their desire to
exceed industry standards on every product they use in their homes. All products used are
top-of-the-line, from windows by Loewen and or Anderson, to Corian or granite counter
tops, Kohler plumbing fixtures, custom cabinets and steel reinforced basement walls, solid
panel doors, tile and hardwood floors, factory finished siding and I/joist floor systems.
They offer a variety of models to choose from (see their ad on page 38 or call for a
brochure) and custom design services to suit your individual needs. When you are ready to
begin planning your new home give the Zach's a call, you'll be glad you did.
